Paralysis is a serious medical condition in which a person loses sensation in, and the ability to move, a group of muscles or one or more limbs. Paralysis is caused by injury to nerves in or near the spinal cord. Paralysis may be caused by trauma, such as a car accident, or a medical event such as a stroke.
