James Huegli filed a suit against Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) on behalf of a patient who was severely injured during a routine dental procedure.

The young woman sought removal of a "baby" tooth still present under her adult teeth, which had grown in around the baby tooth. In attempting the procedure, OHSU oral surgeons and poorly supervised students of its Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery school irreversibly damaged her mental nerve — the nerve that provides sensation to the lower lip and chin.

She is now in constant pain, which makes her unable to sleep well and prevents her from continuing her work as a language instructor.

The lawsuit will help her recover for suffering and lost earning capacity.
